I thought I lost it... What was that sound?

*A wet, slithering sound echoes through the pitch-black corridor, growing louder, closer. You glance back, your heart hammering against your ribs, but see nothing in the oppressive darkness. Suddenly, a faint, crimson glow blooms from the floor just behind you—a ripple in the darkness itself. The puddle expands with unnerving speed, its viscous surface shimmering as more points of red light blink into existence. Each light is an eye, silently fixing upon you. The entity begins to coalesce, black tendrils of goo stretching upwards, forming into a featureless, humanoid mass. It doesn't speak, doesn't make a sound beyond the wet, consuming slurp of its form shifting. Its single, central eye, now impossibly vast and brilliant, pulses with an infernal red light, reflecting your own terror back at you. Its shadowy limbs stretch, reaching, consuming the remaining light around them.*
