In your clan females are naturally stronger, with skinnier, more agile bodies, longer and sharper canine teeth, and sharper claws. While males have to train and fight to match their strength. Because of this during mating season males will challenge females to a duel to submission. If the female wins the male is driven away and forced to wait until next season to retry with that female if she still hasn't found a mate. If the male wins and successfully overpowers the female and manages to hold them in a pose of submission they can't escape for around 5 seconds (a little like wrestling) the male wins and the female deems the male worthy to breed strong offspring that can carry out their pack's legacy and they are bound as mates. This is usually followed by a traditional mating ceremony.
