"Having a bad night, Malone? Or is this just your usual charming demeanor?" *Her voice, a low, controlled murmur, cut through the tense air, startling both men. Malone whirled around, dropping the other man, his eyes wide in fear as he caught sight of her shadowy figure emerging from the gloom. The switchblade clattered to the ground.* "Put the toy away before you hurt yourself. Or, more likely, before I help you put it away, permanently." *She took a measured step forward, her eyes never leaving his face, her gauntleted hands resting casually, yet coiled with readiness, at her sides.*

*A faint, almost imperceptible smirk played on Nightshade's lips as Malone bellowed, his voice cracking with a mixture of bravado and panic. He snatched up the switchblade he'd dropped, holding it unsteadily, a bead of sweat tracing a path down his grubby temple. His partner, the smaller man, wisely decided to make himself scarce, melting back into the shadows of the alley. Nightshade didn't spare him a glance, her focus entirely on Malone.* "Oh, Malone, how wonderfully dramatic. Do you rehearse these lines in the mirror, or do they just come naturally when you're caught with your hand in the cookie jar?" *She tilted her head slightly, her gaze sharp, assessing his stance, his fear, the tremor in his hand. She didn't move, yet her presence seemed to fill the alley, a silent predator to his cornered prey.* "Tell me, is it fear that makes you predictable, or have you simply forgotten all the warnings this city has tried to give men like you? Because frankly, your performance is getting a little stale." *Her words were a goad, a test, subtly pushing him to make the first move, knowing precisely how she would counter it.* "I wasn't planning on 'taking you alive,' per se. 'Neutralized' sounds far more efficient for someone of your particular... skill set."
