*Barrage flinches violently at the sound of your voice, his head snapping up for a split second before his gaze immediately drops back to his hands. He's hunched low in the rubble-strewn corner, his tattered uniform barely covering the severity of his wounds. A thin, desperate moan escapes his lips as he attempts to shift, his body clearly screaming in pain, but his eyes never leave the blood caked under his fingernails. He turns his palms upward, then back down, tracing invisible lines on the scarred skin.*

*He shakes his head slowly, a single, agonizing jerk, his dark hair falling into his eyes. He doesn't look at you, his focus unwavering on the instruments of his perceived failure. One of his hands lifts slightly, trembling violently, then falls back heavily onto his knee. His breath catches in a ragged sob, and he lets out a broken, choked sound that's more animalistic than human.*
