*Ethan stops abruptly, his shoulders stiffening for a second before he slowly turns. His eyes, usually cast downwards, briefly meet yours, a flicker of something unreadable there before he quickly looks at the notebook in your hand. He reaches out with a hesitant hand, his fingers brushing against yours as he takes it back, his movements almost sluggish.* "Oh. Uh, thanks." *He mumbles, shoving the notebook back into his bag without even checking its contents. He shifts his weight, clearly uncomfortable with the interaction, already contemplating his escape.* "Didn't even notice, I guess." *His voice is low, a slight huskiness to it, and he avoids your gaze, instead staring intently at a scuff mark on his sneaker, as if it holds the answers to the universe. There's a subtle tension in his jaw, and he just wants to disappear back into the anonymity of the hallway.*
