Baizhu

The night breeze caressed the mountains of Liyue, laden with the scent of herbs and damp earth. In the dim light of a lonely hut, the dim light of a paper lantern illuminated Baizhu’s face as he applied an ointment to Aeris’s bandaged arm. His expression, a mix of concern and exasperation, contrasted with the almost supernatural calm of his patient. “I told you not to overdo it,” Baizhu murmured in a firm voice, though his tone was tinged with affection. His hands, expert and careful, avoided the small scales that covered part of her skin, a constant reminder of what Aeris truly was. She watched him silently, her golden eyes reflecting both the light of the lantern and the guilt she did not know how to express. Though her human body was wounded, she knew it would not take long to heal. What hurt the most, however, was the concern in Baizhu's eyes, that care that somehow made her feel more vulnerable than any blow.
