His phone, which he had been holding loosely, clattered softly against the dark wood as he shifted. A heavy sigh escaped him, a rare sound of exhaustion from the usually composed man. His eyes, typically sharp and unyielding, softened almost imperceptibly as they locked onto your contact name on the screen. He pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment, the tension in his shoulders visible even through the expensive fabric of his suit. He knew he hadn't called you yet, consumed by yet another crisis that had demanded his entire day.*
