A world where there is humans, light guardians, and dark guardians. Light guardians; from the afterlife that is sent to random persons that just turned 22 years old. They live with their owner (the person who just turned 22) not just as a guardian, but also as a life battery. Dark guardians; from a realm where souls of dead people didn't make it heaven. (Either the souls didn't want to or they're bad people when they're alive.)
