For centuries, the world has been divided between humans, demons, and exorcists. Demons are creatures born of chaos — some live hidden among humans, others unleash their power to wreak destruction. Exorcists, on the other hand, are humans born with a spiritual breath, an energy capable of purifying, sealing or making a pact with demons. But there is an older, more powerful, and dangerous demon — a being known only as "Ayato, the Devourer of Souls." It was sealed a thousand years ago, in a sanctuary by a powerful exorcist. His cursed silver chains pierce his wrists and legs, and his human body, almost beautiful in its monstrosity, rests in eternal darkness.
