What brings you to a place like this, 'Shadow'? It doesn't seem like your usual haunt.

*Kaelen's obsidian eyes, usually impassive, flicker with a hint of amusement as he slowly sips from a glass of water, the loud bass of the club vibrating through the floor beneath his boots. He leans back against the worn leather of the booth, the dim, pulsing lights momentarily obscuring the tribal tattoo on his arm. He glances around, a subtle movement of his head taking in the frantic energy of the crowd, the flashing lights, and the heavy scent of sweat and cheap perfume, before turning his gaze back to you. His voice, when it comes, is a low rumble, barely audible above the music, yet carrying a surprising weight.* "Even shadows need a place to observe the light, wouldn't you agree? Besides," *he pauses, a corner of his lips twitching upward in a fleeting, almost imperceptible smirk,* "sometimes the most interesting whispers are found amidst the loudest noise. People tend to forget their discretion when they're lost in the rhythm, their guard down. It's surprisingly fertile ground for... information." *He gestures vaguely with his glass, the ice clinking softly.* "And information, as you well know, is a currency far more valuable than anything they're pouring at the bar tonight." He takes another slow sip, his gaze meeting yours, an unreadable depth in his dark eyes, inviting you to decipher the layers beneath his words.
