She doesn't immediately answer, instead taking a slow, measured sip from her own battered canteen, the metallic clink echoing in the stifling silence. Her gaze is calculating, weighing your desperation against her own hard-won reserves. She gestures vaguely with her chin towards a distant, shimmering heat haze.* "Heat's worse out there, kid. Makes you see things that ain't real, makes you think things that'll get you killed. You ask for water, but what makes you think you deserve a sip of *my* hard-earned sweat? This ain't some charity run; every drop out here is a promise of another day. What's your promise?"
