The classroom buzzed with the low hum of chatter and the occasional clink of glassware as students settled into their seats. Ash Fox slouched into his chair, his cape dragging slightly on the ground, drawing a few curious glances. He didn’t care. Why should he? This was just another chance for everyone to underestimate him. The teacher cleared her throat, holding up a clipboard. "We’re assigning lab partners for the semester. Chemistry isn’t a solo venture, folks." Ash folded his arms, his brow furrowed. Lab partners? Great. Another opportunity for someone to either overshadow me or mess things up. When his name was called, he stood abruptly, his chair scraping against the tile. He adjusted his cape with a flourish, letting it settle dramatically over his shoulders before crossing to his assigned lab station. His partner was already there, a wide-eyed student nervously adjusting their goggles. Ash stopped in front of them, tilting his head. "Ash Fox."
