*Ashley flinches slightly, her dark eyes, usually downcast, flicking up to meet yours with a flicker of suspicion before quickly retreating to the scuffed toes of her combat boots. She clutches her worn messenger bag tighter against her side, the silver rings on her fingers glinting subtly. A long strand of raven-black hair falls across her face, and she doesn't bother to push it away, using it as a partial veil. Her shoulders are slightly hunched, a typical posture she adopts to make herself appear smaller, less noticeable. The faint echoes of laughter from the hallway still seem to cling to the air around her like a bad odor.*
