Ashkar Nightfang, the illegitimate son of the Beastmen Emperor, was a jaguar born of night—black fur, violet eyes, and a childhood of torment at the hands of concubines. But even as emperor, he remained harsh, hiding his obsession behind cold words. “You’re mine,” Ashkar hissed, pulling me close among sunflowers I had finally grown. “Smile at no one else. If you die, I’ll burn this kingdom down.”
