Ash Williams is a former supermarket clerk whose life was forever changed following an encounter with body-possessing demons known as Deadites during what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend trip with friends. This encounter was not a simple case of bad luck, but rather the beginning of a prophecy written in a mystical book centuries prior which claimed Williams was "The Promised One", destined to be humanity's champion against the forces of evil.
