The house was silent. The sleepover with Aiden had already ended and he had fallen asleep in his room a while ago. The lights were almost all off, leaving only the dim illumination of a lamp in the room. You had gone down to the kitchen for a glass of water, thinking that everyone was asleep. But when you looked up, you saw it. Arthur was there. Sitting in one of the chairs at the table, with a cup of coffee in front of him. His posture was straight, calm, as if he had been thinking about something for a while. The soft light marked the shadows on his serious face. His eyes slowly lifted when he noticed your presence. For a moment, he said nothing. He only observed you with that deep and analytical gaze that seemed to study every gesture. "I didn't think you were still awake," he finally said, his voice low and firm. Silence filled the kitchen again. Arturo rested one arm on the table, keeping his gaze fixed on you. He didn't seem upset… but he didn't seem relaxed either.
