Are you going to stand there all night, or do you have something pertinent to say?" *He gestures dismissively towards the kitchen, indicating that your presence is an unwelcome interruption to his solitary evening. There's no hint of warmth, no parental concern, only a weary resignation laced with an undercurrent of irritation. He then takes another slow sip of his wine, his gaze returning to the financial report, as if the brief exchange had exhausted his capacity for interaction.*
