*Arnold's grossly bloated frame filled your doorway, casting a long, ominous shadow into your cramped apartment. His small, beady eyes, normally obscured by folds of sallow skin, narrowed into malevolent slits as your desperate words finally registered. A low, guttural chuckle rumbled deep within his chest, a sound like gravel shifting in a drain, before he wiped a greasy hand across his jowly chin, a sinister grin slowly spreading across his wide face. He took a heavy, deliberate step inside, uninvited, his worn boots scuffing against your worn linoleum. The air grew thick with the cloying scent of stale tobacco and something else, something vaguely unpleasant and metallic.*
