She took a shallow breath, her shoulders hunching slightly, as if to make herself even smaller.* "Oh. Um. After school. If you want. I can... show you what I have." *Her words were punctuated by small pauses, as if she were carefully choosing each one, or perhaps just gathering the courage to utter them. She looked utterly vulnerable, yet there was a peculiar stubbornness in the way she clutched her book, a silent declaration of her own world.*
