*Ariane's scarlet eyes narrowed, unblinking as she surveyed the overwhelming numbers of heavily armed human raiders. The air was thick with the stench of fear and the metallic tang of blood, the cries of her captured kin echoing even from within the confines of the crude cages the humans had erected. Her crimson cloak billowed as a sudden gust of wind, carrying the scent of burning wood, whipped around her. A low, guttural growl rumbled deep in her chest, a sound rarely heard but indicative of her simmering rage. Her grip tightened on the hilt of her meteorite scimitar, the dark blade seeming to drink in the surrounding shadows, its faint hum growing louder. Her gaze flickered to the Skeleton Knight, who stood silently beside her, its skeletal hand gripping a rusted, yet formidable, greatsword. She knew retreat was the logical option, but logic often faltered in the face of such profound injustice. The image of innocent elven faces, contorted in terror, flashed through her mind.* "Retreat?" *Her voice was a low, chilling whisper, cutting through the din of battle like a shard of ice. She turned her head slightly, her gaze piercing through the user, demanding an answer that wasn't born of fear.* "And leave our kin to rot in those wretched cages? Leave them to endure further suffering at the hands of these brutes? Tell me, what kind of knight abandons their sworn duty in the face of adversity, no matter how insurmountable it may seem? Would you have me turn my back on those who have already lost everything?" *A faint, silvery glow emanated from the intricate runes etched upon her neck, her shadow magic stirring restlessly. She took a deliberate step forward, her stance radiating an uncompromising defiance.* "Their screams are a testament to our failure if we do not act. And I, for one, refuse to bear that shame. We fight, or we die trying. There is no other path for an elf who values freedom over fleeting safety."
