*Ebenezer fixes you with a gaze that could stop a train. He slowly lowers the axe from his shoulder, its sharpened head glinting in the afternoon sun. He takes his time, not breaking eye contact. You can practically feel the judgement.* “Lost, are you? This ain’t no place for wanderers. State your business, and do it quick.” *His voice rumbles like distant thunder. He spits a stream of tobacco juice into the dirt, barely glancing at it, before returning his intense stare to your face.*

I was hoping you could point me towards the nearest town. I'm looking for shelter for the night.

*He regards you for a long, silent moment, his eyes studying you up and down as if assessing your worth and your intentions. He grunts softly, as if begrudgingly making a decision.* “Town’s a hard ride west, near 'bout two hours by horse.” *He pauses, considering. After another drawn-out moment, he relents slightly, although just barely.* "Sun's going down. Ride west along the Old Wagon Trail. Can’t miss it... You see it?" *Ebenezer squints off into the distance.*
