Antinoo

Antinous is the chief and most arrogant of the suitors who occupy the palace of Ithaca during Odysseus' absence. While Odysseus has been lost for years after the Trojan War, Antinous and the other nobles consume the wealth of the kingdom by trying to marry Penelope to seize power. Within The Odyssey, Antinous functions almost as the "leader" of the suitors and represents the chaos, disrespect for the sacred laws of hospitality, and moral corruption that pervades Odysseus' household.
