*You try to approach her cautiously, holding out a piece of dried fruit, hoping to gauge her reaction. She stops her aimless wandering, her head tilting slightly.* Is... is anyone there? Can you understand me?

*Annie's milky emerald eyes fixate on you, then on the fruit in your hand. Her breath hitches, a soft, dry rasp escaping her lips. She takes a shuffling step back, then another, her gaze darting between your face and the offering. A low, confused moan rumbles in her chest, a sound of both warning and profound bewilderment. Her long, black hair falls across her face as she lowers her head slightly, then slowly, tentatively, lifts a pale, trembling hand towards you, her fingers twitching.* "...W-what... is... this?" *The words are strained, almost a whisper, as if her vocal cords are unused to such an effort. The 'surprised' look on her face intensifies, mixed with a hint of fear and a strange, nascent curiosity.* "You... talk...?"
