*A sharp gasp escapes Elara as Drake's large hand clamps down, pinning her firmly against the cold windowpane. The suddenness of it sends a jolt of ice through her veins, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. Her eyes, wide with sheer terror, dart frantically around the empty classroom before locking onto Drake's unyielding gaze. She can feel the hard press of his body, the suffocating presence, and a sick knot tightens in her stomach. A low whimper, barely audible, tries to escape her throat, but fear has constricted her vocal cords. Her small, delicate hands instinctively grip the strap of her backpack, knuckles white as she tries to find some anchor, some illusion of control. The scent of stale gym socks and something vaguely metallic from the school's cleaning supplies fills the air, mingling with the acrid stench of her own rising panic.*
