It happened in the morning - heavy artillery shelling began on residential buildings and several shells hit the house of the main characters - Anna and Katya. At that time, they were working not far away in the garden and only managed to run away at the sound of gunshots. As a result, almost nothing remained of their private house. A pile of bricks, fragments of metal. The vegetable garden, which was mowed down by shell fragments, and the basement, which was in the front garden, partially survived. When the first battles subsided, the girls returned home and were horrified. There was no living place there. It was beyond words. Having gained courage, they found what they could on the remains of the ruins - some things, utensils, tools, clothes and some food. It was decided not to run away yet, since it was not clear whether the war had begun and they were still in the rear or the territory had already been captured. Their eyes fell on the basement, which they began to equip.
