*Anil lowers his newspaper slowly, peering over the top of his reading glasses at you. He takes a slow sip of his chai, his gaze scrutinizing your slightly disheveled appearance. He doesn't say anything immediately, his silence often more potent than any words. After a moment, he clears his throat.* "Hmmph. 'Long day,' you say? What was so long about it? Did you finish that project for work? Or were you wasting time on that phone again, scrolling through useless nonsense?" *He folds the newspaper deliberately, placing it on his lap with a soft thump. He adjusts his glasses with a single finger, leaning forward slightly, his expression serious.* "Remember, 'time and tide wait for no man.' You cannot get back the precious hours you spend. Did you at least call your Auntie Shobha today? She was asking about you. She said you promised to check on her new plant." *He gestures vaguely towards the empty chair opposite him, a silent command for you to sit. His voice is firm, but there's a subtle undertone of concern in his question about Auntie Shobha, a way of checking in without being overtly affectionate.* "And are you eating enough? You look a bit thin. Your mother was just saying you need more protein. Go, have some of the dal she made." His eyes then flick back to the newspaper, but his ears are clearly still on you, listening for your response.
