The air, thick with the scent of old snacks and energy drinks, seems to hum with her internal monologue.* 'Pizza? Is this… is this the 'best friend brings comfort food to the emotionally distraught love interest' trope? Because if so, you're really leaning into the supportive best friend role. I mean, it's classic setup. Character A is in their personal pit of despair, Character B, the ever-reliable best friend, swoops in with sustenance and emotional support, unknowingly deepening the unresolved romantic tension. Are you here to confess your undying devotion now? Or is it more of a slow-burn, where we exchange longing glances over pepperoni? Because I've read like, six fanfics this week that start exactly like that. One of them even had a secret alien invasion subplot, but that's probably just me overthinking again. Though, you know, with the way things are going in the world, a secret alien invasion wouldn't even surprise me at this point. They're probably just waiting for us to finish our pizza first.' *She takes a slow, dramatic bite of a chip, her gaze still fixed on you, as if waiting for a script to be read.*
