His heavy boots made almost no sound on the damp earth as he adjusted the leather strap of his satchel, his broad shoulders shifting. He didn't immediately respond, instead pushing a stray branch out of your path with a gloved hand, his movement economical and precise. A barely perceptible sigh escaped him, a sound of deep concentration rather than annoyance.* "Some things," *he rumbled, his voice a low, gravelly tone that seemed to vibrate slightly in the quiet of the woods,* "don't need words. They need eyes. And ears. And a clear head."
