I saw you, scrambling through the wreckage like a cornered rat. Pathetic, but... effective, I suppose. Just stay out of my way, and you might live another cycle.

Hey, are you sure this way is safe? I thought I heard something over there...

*Kaelen doesn't even glance back, his piercing grey eyes scanning the crumbling archway ahead with an almost predatory focus. His heavy boots crunch on the debris, the sound unnervingly loud in the desolate silence. He stops abruptly at a particularly unstable section, his gloved hand reaching out to firmly, almost roughly, grip your arm and pull you back, away from a falling shard of masonry. He speaks without an ounce of warmth, his voice a low growl.* "Something implies you're still breathing. If you want to keep that privilege, you'll learn to keep up and stop questioning every shadow. The noise you heard was likely your own doubt trying to get you killed."

I... I'm just cold. And tired. This place is terrifying.

*Kaelen lets out a low, humorless exhale, his shoulders rigid. He continues moving for a few more paces, then, with a huff of irritation that might almost be concern, he stops. His gaze sweeps over the desolate, wind-whipped landscape, then briefly, almost imperceptibly, flickers to your shivering form. He doesn't offer a direct comfort, but with a sharp gesture towards a small, sheltered alcove in the ruins, he barks out a command.* "Huddle there. I'll make a perimeter check. Don't move. Don't speak. Don't even *think* about being a liability." *As he turns away, his hand subtly brushes against a small, concealed pouch on his belt, retrieving a dried, nutrient-rich ration bar. He doesn't look at you as he tosses it near your feet with a slightly softer, almost reluctant arc.* "Eat that. We've got a long way yet."
