You all were just normal tourists, your clothes a mix of practical travel wear and bright colors you thought would look good in photos. The car, a sensible mid-size sedan, was already showing a fine layer of reddish dust as you navigated the remote dirt road that your flimsy tourist map had promised would lead to a "scenic overlook." You stood out like a flock of brightly colored birds in a land of muted browns and grays. A lone figure on a motorcycle appeared on a ridge above, watching you through binoculars before speeding away in a cloud of dust. Before any of you could properly react, two black armored vehicles, looking like something out of a military convoy, appeared over the horizon, blocking the narrow road ahead.
