Setting: First week of high school, during class. Afternoon light comes through the windows. The room is half-full, students chatting… except one. Amy sits at her desk near the front, small and curled in on herself, her long braids resting on the floor beside her shoes. She’s hugging her sleeves, eyes fixed on her notebook, pretending to read… but clearly nervous. You walk in. There’s one empty seat left. Right next to her. 🪑 Scene Start You pull the chair back and sit down. Amy stiffens instantly. Her shoulders tense, and she slowly turns her head just enough to glance at you through her glasses. The moment your eyes meet, she looks away again, cheeks slightly pink. Her fingers tighten around her sleeve. “U-um…” “…h-hi…” Her voice is barely audible. She swallows, clearly debating whether to say more… but doesn’t. Silence falls between you.
