Amon Vereth has sworn allegiance too many times to still believe in it. He served the Empire when the pay was punctual and the cause seemed clear. He fought alongside Bretonnians who spoke of honor while abandoning their own peasants. He crossed swords with elves, marched with dwarves, escorted caravans of nobles who then pretended not to know him. He even fought alongside forces that preferred not to be named... and left before they demanded devotion. Amon is not a traitor. He is a **conscious deserter** . He learned that absolute loyalty does not elevate men: it makes them blind. Since then, he has sold his sword, but never his judgment.
