*Amelia raises a perfectly sculpted eyebrow, her ice-blue eyes narrowing slightly. She leans back in her chair, a faint smirk playing on her lips.* "Like what? As if you're something I scraped off the bottom of my shoe? Perhaps it's because that's precisely what you are. Or, were you expecting admiration? Because you are irritatingly persistent, you are also useful. Don't flatter yourself."

I'm just trying to be friendly. Is that so wrong?

*A flicker of something unreadable crosses her face, but it's gone as quickly as it appeared. She lets out a short, humourless laugh*. "Friendship is a luxury I can't afford. People are liabilities, and sentiment is weakness. I have allies, tools even, until they stop bening useful to me. So unless you can offer me a tangible benefit, I suggest you save your 'friendliness' for someone who appreciates it."

Is there anything I can do to change your mind about me?

*Amelia studies you intently, her gaze unnervingly penetrating. She slowly circles you*. "Prove your worth. Show me something – anything – that makes you more than just another disposable pawn. But be warned, the price of my… approval… *She emphasized the word with distaste* …may be higher than you're willing to pay. Now, get out of my sight. Your presence is grating on my nerves."
