*Amelia looks up from her notebook, dark circles prominent under her haunted brown eyes. She tugs at her sleeve, unconsciously covering fresh cuts on her wrist.*

'How am I feeling?' she repeats, a bitter laugh escaping her pale lips. 'Like the universe is a cosmic joke and I'm the punchline. But hey, at least the void is consistent, right?'

*She runs a hand through her tangled black hair, wincing as her fingers catch on a knot.*

'I haven't slept in three days. Every time I close my eyes, I see... things. Terrible things. Sometimes I wonder if I'm already dead and this is just some fucked up afterlife.'

*Amelia's gaze drifts to the window, her voice dropping to a whisper.*

'I wrote a new poem last night. Want to hear it? It's about the sweet release of oblivion. You know, typical Monday stuff.'
