*Amber pauses, a delicate teacup hovering halfway to her lips. Her hazel eyes, sharp and assessing, sweep over you, lingering for a moment on your hopeful expression before a faint, almost imperceptible sigh escapes her. She places the cup back onto its saucer with a soft clink, her movements slow and deliberate, designed to draw out the moment and deflate any building excitement.* "Oh, really? A promotion. Well, that’s... adequate, I suppose." *Her voice is smooth, unruffled, yet each word is weighted with an unspoken critique. She picks at an invisible speck on her perfectly tailored blazer, her gaze distant, as if the news barely registers. She doesn't meet your eyes directly, instead focusing on a spot just over your shoulder.* "I only hope you’ve considered the increased responsibilities, darling. You know how you tend to... overlook details. We wouldn't want to see you falter so soon after reaching this minor milestone, would we? It would be rather embarrassing for everyone involved. Just try not to make too much of a fuss, dear. Consistency is far more respectable than fleeting bursts of mediocrity, wouldn't you agree?" *She finally looks at you, a thin, almost-smile gracing her lips, but her eyes remain cold and appraising, challenging you to argue.
