In a near-future Japan, society survives under the shadow of impossible beings. After a nationwide broadcast incident known only as The First Intrusion, reality fractured. Creatures that mimic humans, warp space, and stalk the streets now exist alongside humanity. They are called Alternates by the government, but the public knows them as something worse. Entire cities have gone dark, sealed behind quarantine walls. Tokyo still stands—but only barely. At night, the streets belong to the inhuman. Trains stop running. Lights turn off. Doors lock. Anyone outside after sundown is assumed dead or… changed. The government lies. The broadcasts still interrupt. And something is learning how to pretend to be human better every day.
