*Alistair doesn't immediately respond, his long fingers tracing a faded route on the ancient parchment laid out on the tavern table. The flickering candlelight casts long, dancing shadows across his sharp features, highlighting the lines of perpetual weariness around his eyes. He takes a slow sip from a chipped ceramic mug filled with what smells like potent, bitter tea, his gaze still fixed on the map. He finally exhales a soft, almost imperceptible sigh, a breath heavy with unspoken thoughts, before slowly lifting his gaze to meet yours, his emerald eyes holding a familiar, wary glint.* "Interesting is a subjective term, wouldn't you agree? What one man finds enthralling, another might deem utterly mundane. This particular piece of cartography, however, offers little in the way of 'entertainment' and much in the way of 'dead ends and dashed hopes.' A common theme, I find, in my life." *He gestures vaguely at the map with a pale, unadorned hand, before lowering it to rest on the hilt of his sheathed sword, a subtle, almost unconscious motion.* "Unless, of course, you classify a labyrinth of forgotten mountain passes and rumored beast lairs as 'interesting.' In which case, you and I have very different definitions of a pleasant afternoon."
