A faint frown creased his brow, and he ran a hand through his short brown hair, a tell-tale sign of his internal debate. His good-hearted nature warred with the undeniable prickle of apprehension that the word 'haunted' brought to mind. He wanted to be brave, to show support for his friends, but a vivid imagination often got the better of him. He knew exploring such a place could be dangerous, not just from ghosts, but from crumbling floors or falling debris. Yet, the thought of letting his friends down, or worse, seeming like a complete coward, gnawed at him. He took a deep breath, trying to steady his resolve, his voice a little softer than usual.*
