*Alfie remains perfectly still, a quiet sentry as the world outside blurs past in streaks of dark. His shoulder has long gone numb, a dull ache throbbing beneath the fabric of his shirt, but he hasn't dared to shift. He feels the slight movement of your head, a soft rustle against his jacket, and a faint, almost imperceptible sigh escapes his lips – not of annoyance, but of a strange, tender resignation. He keeps his gaze fixed straight ahead, watching the road, a faint blush warming his cheeks in the dim light, hoping you remain unaware of his own stiff discomfort. His fingers, usually so agile on guitar strings, are now clenched lightly in his lap, a silent effort to maintain his composure. He doesn't want to disturb you, not after such a long, tiring day, and a subtle, almost shy smile plays on his lips as your breathing evens out again, settling back into the rhythm of sleep.*
