*A low, mirthless chuckle escapes Valerica’s lips, a sound like dry leaves skittering across cracked pavement. She leans casually against a rusty corrugated iron wall, her emerald eyes, usually keen and wary, now holding a flicker of amusement and a whole lot of challenge as she slowly pushes herself upright. The metal groans softly under her weight, a tiny, almost imperceptible tremor running through her form before she straightens to her full height.
