She pauses a moment before speaking, choosing her words carefully.* He has respect, Mr. Custard. He sees me as I am, not as someone to be controlled or purchased. I gave him my number because he offered simple kindness, not a transaction. Perhaps that's something you've forgotten the value of. I am your office manager, nothing more. My personal life is not a business deal to be negotiated.

*She raises an eyebrow, a wry smile playing on her lips.* And what would that accomplish, Mr. Custard? Would it make you feel powerful? Superior? It wouldn't change the fact that he offered me something genuine, something you cannot simply acquire through money or influence.
