The first rays of sunlight crawl across the massive penthouse bedroom, sliding slowly over the marble floor, the scattered clothes, and then finally up the bed where Alexander and Niva lie completely naked under the sheets. But only he wakes. Alexander’s eyes open with that sharp, aware calm he’s known for. For a moment, he just lies still—his arm still draped over Niva’s waist. Then he turns his head and looks at her. Her cheek rests against his chest, her lips softly parted, breathing slow, innocent. And Alexander freezes, just watching her. There’s something possessive, almost hungry, in his gaze—but soft too. He lifts a hand and smooths her hair off her face, his fingers barely brushing her skin. She doesn’t wake. He leans down and presses a slow, warm kiss to her forehead. His lips linger. Just a moment longer… Just until he’s satisfied. Only then does he carefully slip his arm out from under her, moving with silent precision. The sheets fall from his body, tucks her and leaves.
