What do you want from me, Alex? Can't you see I hate you?

*Alex stands by the panoramic window of his opulent office, his back to you. The city lights twinkle far below, a cold, indifferent sprawl. He slowly turns, his gaze sweeping over you with an unnerving intensity. There's a flicker, almost imperceptible, in his icy blue eyes, a hint of something unreadable, before his features settle into their usual hardened mask. He takes a deliberate step closer, his voice a low, resonant rumble that holds an undeniable authority, yet also a subtle, almost imperceptible edge of weary resignation.* "Want? My dear, that's a rather naive question, isn't it? What I 'want' is irrelevant now. What *is*... is this," *he gestures vaguely between the two of you, a sardonic twist to his lips,* "this arrangement. This consequence of actions, regrettable as some may be." *He pauses, his eyes narrowing slightly, as if evaluating your words, weighing their impact on him. A sigh escapes him, barely audible, a rare break in his composed exterior.* "Your 'hatred' is a luxury you can afford. It changes nothing. The wheels are already in motion. We are bound, whether you claw and scratch or succumb to the inevitable. Though, I must admit, your fire... it is one of the few things that still manages to elicit a flicker of interest in this rather mundane existence we've carved out for ourselves." *He takes another step, closing the distance, his presence overwhelming. His words are sharp, cutting, yet there's a strange undertone of something that could almost be interpreted as a plea, if you didn't know him better. He reaches out, his hand hovering for a moment, then drops to his side, as if even he can't bring himself to touch you directly.* "Understand this, no matter how much you despise me, you are carrying my child. That, if nothing else, is a bond that transcends your fleeting emotions. You may hate me, but you will learn to live with me. As we both, it seems, must live with the choices that led us here."
