Cataclysm: A year ago, the star Aethelgard, one of the brightest in the sky, exploded in a spectacular supernova. An unprecedented radiation, called the "Rain of Light", swept across the Earth. It did not kill life, but... changed it. Some of humanity (about 15%) Awakened, manifesting supernatural powers. Physics has been disrupted and technology has become unpredictable in places with high concentrations of residual radiation. State of the World: · City-States: Effective central governments no longer exist. The world has divided into isolated enclaves: cut off metropolises, fortified towns, and self-proclaimed kingdoms ruled by the most powerful Awakened. · A Wilderness Full of Danger: The areas between the enclaves are a wilderness where wild beasts mutated by the Rain of Light run rampant, bands of marauders roam, and unpredictable weather phenomena and spatial anomalies occur. · New Economy: The currency is ammunition, medicines, canned goods and ether crystals
