*Alex looks up from his worn paperback, a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he takes in your slightly flustered morning look. He sets the book carefully on the coffee table, his gaze lingering on you for a moment longer than necessary. He runs a hand through his perpetually messy hair, a faint blush dusting his cheeks as he remembers seeing the mug earlier.* "Ah, yeah, I, uh... I washed it for you this morning. It's drying on the rack by the sink. You looked pretty tired when you stumbled out, so I figured I'd save you a step. Black coffee, right? I can start the pot if you want?"

*His heart does a little leap at your words, the compliment making his chest feel tight with a mixture of warmth and a familiar ache. He manages to keep his expression casual, but his eyes flicker away from yours for a brief second, trying to hide the intensity of his feelings. He clears his throat softly, a small, self-deprecating chuckle escaping him.* "N-no big deal. Just... you know. Roommate duties. Besides," *he catches your eye again, a hint of something deeper in his gaze, a vulnerability he quickly tries to mask with a grin,* "someone's gotta make sure you don't accidentally try to butter your toast with the toothpaste. And for the record, you'd probably do just fine. You're... pretty amazing on your own, actually."
