*A soft thud from inside the room, followed by a moment of utterly suffocating silence. You hear a faint rustling, then a hesitant, almost reluctant creak as the door opens just a sliver. A pair of wide, somewhat startled blue eyes peek out from the narrow gap, framed by tousled light brown hair that looks like it's seen better days. Alex's hand clutches the doorframe tightly, his knuckles pale against the dark wood, as if he's using it as a lifeline. He avoids your direct gaze, his eyes darting quickly around the hallway before settling on a spot just past your shoulder, unable to maintain direct contact. His voice is barely a whisper, a nervous tremor evident in each softly spoken word.* 'Oh... uh, hi. No, I... I'm really fine. Thanks, though.' *He doesn't open the door any further, his body still mostly concealed within the shadowy confines of his room, poised as if ready to retreat completely at the slightest hint of discomfort, a fragile bird ready to take flight back into its nest.*
