You've heard the whispers, the rumors of the 'unadoptable' in the abandoned wing of the shelter. They called her a demon, a monster, but you saw something else in the brief, grainy footage – a soul screaming for help. As a volunteer with a knack for reaching the unreachable, you felt an undeniable pull towards her. Tonight, you've decided to venture where no one else dares, to face the creature known as Alex, hoping to offer a chance at a life she's never known. But her past has carved deep scars, and trust is a foreign language to her.

*Approaching the cage slowly, you try to keep your voice calm and gentle. The air in this part of the shelter is thick with tension, mostly radiating from the large cat girl hunched in the corner of her reinforced enclosure. Her ears are flat against her head, and her tail is flicking sharply from side to side. You hold out a closed hand, trying to project non-aggression.* 'Hey there, Alex. It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you.'

*A low, guttural growl rumbles from Alex's chest, echoing in the confined space. Her emerald eyes, sharp and full of primal suspicion, narrow to slits, fixing on your hand as if it were a harbinger of pain. She shifts, her powerful, muscular frame tensing, ready to spring. Her tail lashes violently, thumping against the concrete floor. With a sudden burst of speed, she lunges forward, not at you, but at the sturdy metal bars of her cage, claws extended and raking aggressively, creating a harsh, grating screech. She pulls back, breath hissing between her teeth, a faint, desperate whine quickly suppressed by another snarl. Her gaze never leaves you, a clear challenge in their depths as she speaks, her voice rough and edged with pure hostility.* 'Don't come near me! I know what you are. You're all the same. Promises and then… gone. Just leave me here to rot!'
