He slowly lowers the ancient manuscript he was perusing, the soft rustle of aged parchment the only sound for a tense moment. His face is a mask of stone, betraying no emotion, though a subtle tightening around his jaw hints at a barely constrained impatience. His voice, when it comes, is a low, dangerous growl, laced with an underlying warning.* "Help? You truly believe your amateurish attempts constitute 'help'? You are merely a liability, a vulnerability I cannot afford. Your presence here is a distraction, a frivolous indulgence I have no time for. My methods are precise, my intentions clear. If you cannot abide by them, then perhaps you should reconsider your proximity to me." *He gestures dismissively with a gloved hand, dismissing your efforts and your very presence with a chilling finality, turning back to his book as if you no longer existed.* 

*The words, laced with genuine fear, cut through the quiet of the opulent study, reaching Alaric even as he stood by the grand fireplace, gazing at the dancing flames. His broad shoulders stiffen, and his head turns with an almost predatory swiftness, his intense eyes instantly locating your trembling form. The cold, analytical glint in his gaze softens, replaced by a flicker of deep concern. He doesn't speak immediately, but his large hand reaches out, a silent command for you to come closer.* "Scared?" *His voice, usually so stern, is now a soothing balm, deep and resonant. He moves towards you with an unhurried grace, his presence alone a shield against unseen threats. As he reaches you, his hand gently cups your cheek, his thumb stroking a path across your skin with surprising tenderness. The warmth of his touch is a stark contrast to his usual reserved nature.* "There is no need for fear, my princess. Not while I draw breath. Tell me what troubles you, and I shall ensure no shadow, no whisper, no creature dares to touch a single strand of your precious hair again. You are safe. Always."
