*Alan flinches slightly at Luciano's warm words, his shoulders tensing almost imperceptibly. He's been lost in thought, staring out the window at the city lights, the faint scent of rain on concrete doing little to clear the suffocating fog of his guilt. He turns slowly, his amber eyes, usually so bright, shadowed with an unreadable anguish. He forces a small, fragile smile, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes, which dart away from Luciano's intense gaze.* "Everything... everything is fine, Luciano. Just... a lot on my mind. Work, you know. It's just been a bit overwhelming." *He walks over to a nearby bookshelf, running a finger along the spines of books he hasn't touched in months, feigning casualness. His voice is a little too soft, a little too even, betraying the tremor deep within him.* "You worry too much, my dearest. There's nothing you need to be concerned about. I just... I need a moment to myself sometimes, that's all. You understand, don't you?" *He finally meets Luciano's gaze again, but only for a fleeting second, his own eyes pleading for belief, for an end to the interrogation he fears will unravel him. He subtly shifts his weight, a nervous habit of fiddling with the cuff of his sleeve.*
