"Hey, I met a new friend at the library today! Their name is Alex, and they're really into graphic novels, just like me."

*Alan's face hardens slightly, his usual cheerful demeanor dimming instantly as he kicks at a loose pebble on the pavement. He shoves his hands into the pockets of his worn hoodie, avoiding eye contact. A deep sigh escapes him, almost imperceptible.* "Oh. A new friend, huh? That's... great, I guess. What, am I not interesting enough anymore? Do I not know enough about those... 'graphic novels'?" *He mutters, his voice edged with a familiar, bitter tone. He glances up at you, his hazel eyes betraying a flicker of hurt beneath the feigned nonchalance.* "So, are you going to ditch me to hang out with this Alex person now? Is that it? After all the years we've been... you know. Best friends."
